Tree of Life

In the womb
He starts our heart
God breathes life into
Each of us He creates
Giving us a spirit
His image

I am the vine
Jesus

You are the branches
Everyone created

He is our Living Water
Sustainer

All can choose
Remain on the tree
Or be cut off

Take the Living Water
Bearing much fruit

Take the world’s water
Be cut off and burned in the fire

Remain in Him
Sustained as
His Living Water
Flows through you

Growing you
From a tiny twig

Getting stronger through
He who abides in you
Branching out
More and more
As He works through you

Pruned through the
Harshness of this world
To increase His yield
Reaching even more for Him

Blown by the breeze of
The Holy Spirit
Unseen but felt
Directing the path
We reach
Those we touch
Bringing forth fruit

All true believers
Abiding in Him

A spiritual tree
All His plan

Branching out into God's
Glorious tree of
Life eternal

Eden

Where has Eden gone?
Did it disappear with the flood?
Man was banished from it forever?

The Bible is the Garden of Eden
The Place where we meet with God

Tranquil
Refreshing
Nourishing

Where He walks with us
Talks with us
Teaches us

Shows us His love for us
His compassion
His mercy
His grace

Who we are to Him
His Bride
His children
Our beauty
Our value

But also
His greatness
His power
Our Redeemer
Our Rock
Our Fortress
Our Deliverer

We treat the Bible like it is a chore
Gotta get it done
Put it back on the shelf
Duty overwith

Just like the fall in Eden
Meet with Him
Then walk away

To be our own gods

Calling the shots ourselves
Fearing, failing, angry
Deceiving, burning out
Carrying the load alone

Not hearing from Him
Believing we are alone
That He doesn’t really love us

When we’ve left Eden on the shelf

Eden

A place to meet with Him
Walk with Him
Learn from Him
Grow in Him
Know Him

ALIVE

 The Living Word

The Garden of Eden

Alive

Sawdust I am

Living water added to me

Clay for the Potter

Shaped by His hand

Not a puppet on strings but

A vessel I become

To pour out His greatness

To give Him glory and honor

Part of His plan

Time marches on

Little by little

I disintegrate for Him

And return to a pile of sawdust

Then

Blown by the Holy Spirit

Borne away to the splendor of my Eternal Home

I will be

Reformed and perfect forever

Garden Hose

Jesus is the Master Gardener He tends His garden well
His Living Water flows to keep the lost from hell

Each of us are different, a hose of every type
The Gardener knows which one to use to make things work out right

Sometimes a sprinkler’s needed to give refreshing rain
He casts it out all around to souls who are in pain

Sometimes He sends a soaker hose; it drips, underneath, unseen
It gives just enough around the roots to keep things growing green

Other times the field is large and rain has been quite scarce
He sends out an irrigator and the whole field grows up fierce

Sometimes we need a power wash to get the crusty dirt
To rid our life of unwanted stuff it takes a powerful squirt

Sometimes the fire is burning, the field going up in smoke
The Fireman brings His hose right in and saves all in a brilliant stroke

Sometimes there is a huge rainstorm and only a battered gutter
It carries all the rain to wash a weedy yard of clutter

Other days only a small cup is needed, a rusty hand pump is what He sends
A few good cranks is what it takes to get folks on the mend

We are each just a simple garden hose, the Master Gardener knows the need
It is up to us to let Water through for He has thirsty souls to feed

The Powerhouse

The Great I Am is the Powerhouse
Source of the life we have.

Jesus is the outlet that joins us to the Powerhouse
Without Him we are useless.

We are all unique appliances each with different functions:

Flood lamps lighting the way for many
Search lights pointing to the destination
Nightlights showing the way for one child lost in darkness

Extension cords enabling one to reach another
Reaching far and wide across continents
Radios broadcasting His Word and singing His praises
Computers reaching world wide in all languages
Cell phones reaching one individual at a time
Batteries charged up, going to remote places, to power a light, to show the way

Sewing machines joining people together
Washing machines cleansing dirty hearts and minds
Mixers blending folks together into a team
Vacuum cleaners cleaning up messes others leave behind
Irons smoothing out ruffled attitudes and wrinkles in plans
Pencil sharpeners shaving off useless distractions so we can make a strong point

Air purifiers, cleansing the unwanted, clearing the air
Smoke alarms warning that fiery danger is imminent
Clocks reminding us time is short so make the most of it

Fans cooling off the hot tempered or bringing refreshing breeze
Space heaters thawing out icy hearts
Heating pads soothing one weary traveler
Furnaces, unseen, providing warmth and encouragement for all

All of us make this world we are passing through an easier place to live
But without the Power House and the Outlet none of us can work

 What appliance are you?

Are you plugged in?

Running the Race

Hurry! Rush! Be quick about it!
All our lives are hasty

We text
We call
We Skype
We Twitter
We Facebook
Download those new apps
We cut people off in traffic
We run red lights, stop signs
We speed
We interrupt
We microwave
We order takeout
We stop at Starbucks

Everything to save time, to get it done, to expedite
The more we rush, the more time we crave
The more we rush, the less time we save

Be still and know that I am God
How do we do that
In our body and our mind?

We have to stop
Listen
Wait on Him
Trust that He is enough
To overcome our weaknesses

God is a jealous God
He won’t stand being multitasked
Love Him with all your heart, soul and mind

Slow Down
Be still
Take Time
Rest in Him
Read His Word
Pray
